Sommerro, opening September 2022, is a monument to Oslo’s legacy and its abundant creative spirit. Occupying a landmark 1930s building, which was once the headquarters of Oslo Lysverker – the city’s electrical company – the hotel is the newest offering from Nordic Hotels & Resorts.

With Norwegian firm LPO Architects and London and New York-based studio, GrecoDeco, behind the transformation, Sommerro’s design will stay true to the spirit of the building while creating a neighbourhood destination for locals and visitors to work and play. Most of all, it will be a celebration of Norwegian design and we can’t wait for you to call it home.
Perched on Solli Plass, Sommerro’s original architects, Andreas Bjercke & Georg Eliassen, had a vision to transform the quarter into an urban hub. A pipedream that is set to become reality when Sommerro throws open its doors in September 2022.

Across the 245 rooms – including an accompanying villa with 15 rooms and suites – and public spaces like the four restaurants and two bars, the building’s original features, such as the exterior bas-reliefs, the colourful mosaic art, and decorative art deco details, have een expanded and developed to create a rich interior, which takes its cues from the 1930s.
There will be a strong focus on wellness, with an ample gym and 16 treatment rooms, with the highlight being the building’s basement public bath, which will be restored and transformed into Sommerro’s pool and saunas.
