Behind the artist name GURO is Norwegian singer and songwriter Guro Røvik Marstad from Melhus, Trøndelag – a distinctive voice in the Scandinavian music landscape where soul meets americana in a warm, powerful, and deeply authentic expression. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Aretha Franklin and Tedeschi Trucks Band, GURO blends raw emotional strength with vulnerability, creating a sound that feels both timeless and contemporary.

She now returns with new music recorded at the renowned Ocean Sound Recordings studio on the island of Giske. Her upcoming single, “Miles Apart,” set for release in April, is a heartfelt tribute to the people in our lives we may not see often – yet who remain our constant anchors. You can be miles apart, yet still profoundly present in each other’s lives. The track captures the invisible threads that bind us together across geography, time, and circumstance.

GURO has previously released one album and six singles, and has established herself as a compelling live performer with concerts across Norway. In addition to her solo project, she has performed as a backing vocalist for artists such as Emma Steinbakken, Myra, and Vidar Villa. In the winter of 2024, she also appeared on The Voice on TV 2, introducing her powerful voice to a national television audience.
